The problem

Wedding budget sheets sold on Gumroad pitch themselves at the stress of tracking deposits and keeping up with vendor payments. Couples seem to pay a few dollars for spreadsheets because the big wedding planners cover budgets and guests but not a simple 'what do I owe whom, by when'. One popular planning binder lists around 897 sales at $9.99, so there is some willingness to pay for this kind of organisation.

Who has it: Engaged couples and DIY or family-run wedding planners managing 8–15 vendors across several payment dates.

Who pays

The couple, as a one-time purchase, because missing a balance deadline can cost a booking or a late fee. · $9–15 one-time per wedding

One-time purchase after a free 3-vendor tier. Sell through Pinterest and wedding-planning subreddits, where planning spreadsheets already circulate.

What to build first

  • Add vendors with contract total, deposit paid, balance due and due date
  • Calendar and list view of upcoming payments with a running 'still owed' total
  • Email or SMS reminder 7 and 2 days before each due date
  • Share view with a partner or parent
  • Attach a contract photo or PDF to each vendor
  • CSV export for the couple's own records

Suggested stack

Next.js Supabase Stripe Resend Tailwind

Starter prompt

Paste it into Cursor, Claude Code, Lovable or Bolt and iterate from there.

Build a simple web app called DueDate Wedding. A couple signs up with email magic link and creates a wedding with a date. They add vendors (name, category, contract total, deposit paid, balance amount, balance due date, notes, optional file upload). Show a dashboard with total contracted, total paid, total still owed, and a timeline of upcoming payments sorted by date, with overdue items in red. Add a 'mark paid' button that updates totals. Let the couple invite a partner by email to view and edit. Send reminder emails with Resend 7 days and 2 days before each balance due date, using a scheduled Supabase function. Add CSV export. Gate the app behind a one-time $12 Stripe payment after 3 vendors. Mobile-first, clean, friendly design.

What could go wrong

Free spreadsheets and big platforms like Zola and The Knot cover this, and a low price caps revenue. Seasonal demand and a short usage window per customer make growth depend on steady acquisition.
